Calling Ruth Bader Ginsburg a gender-equality icon is too simple. Her legacy was so much more. Everything had its meaning and purpose – her gradual & calculated unweaving of civil inequalities, the language of her dissents, and even her fashion choices on the bench – different collars worn to symbolize her opinion on a pending case. Though winning many ground-breaking cases, her dissents have often been given as much credit as her wins. Understanding their potential impact, they were poignant, fiery and everlasting. As she said herself, “Dissenters speak to a future age”.
The piece is a celebration of a career that embodied change, while still reminding us that there are fields of work to be done. In this spirit, Lucie Kaas is donating 10% of proceeds of this doll to the American Civil Liberties Union in celebration of Judge Ginsburg’s impact.
The Sketch.inc for Lucie Kaas collection includes some of the greatest legends and icons within the fashion, art, music and cultural world. The collection grows each season with the dolls making their place in the world of designer collectibles.
